Does the private sector have a Career for you?
There are many jobs that are available in the private sector but I guess it all depends on what you are looking for, for example I thought about being a Border Patrol Agent this career position consist of a grade level progression and you must meet the residency requirement for three years before his or her application can be pulled and you must be a resident of the United States and you must haveor had a previous or current law enforcement or some type of military experience to qualify and you must have one year specialized work experience in law enforcement and you must be able to demonstrate that you can make an arrest and be able to detain people by handcuffing, restraining or making sure you can carry outenforcement duties, this is something that I have always been fascinated with to.
This is what I really want to do as a Career
But the Private sector really doesn’t have the job that I am really passionate about, I want to open up my on big Homeless shelter and the reason I do is because there are so many people in my city of Baton rouge that is living under the interstate in my home town I know there where a lot but not until I went Saturday to help feed the Homeless my Social Group which is called Unique Ladies of Perfection got together and feed over 250 people including families that where actually being housed under the interstate and this really tore me up, so my plan is to get a building hopefully an apartment complex where I can help families get back on their feet, because as I was talking to them I learn that a lot of them had been affected by Katrina and have never been able to get back on their feet but I feel that the system has failed so many of them and my plan is to make it where they want have to leave on the streets, they can get some type of training to where they can get a job and be able to make it on there on. This is my dream but I have started to work on it so hopefully everything will fall in place.
How does the private sector overlap with government jobs?
Because Private sector employees face higher vulnerability to market forces, which include wage levels and they must remain competitivein terms of skills and job performance so that they want be replaced. And Government employees have to meet performance standards too but its more harder to get rid of them and when it comes to private sectors workers they can be laid off more readily by business that close or suffer economic setbacks
What are the advantages to working in the private sector?
I would have to say one advantage is that a private sector job pays for itself and it also creates jobs, to where public sector jobs are paid for by taxpayers and some of the government sector jobs has to be voted in from the people and private sector jobs don’t and also private sectors are prone to spending money in ways that don’t have a great a multiplier effect on the wider economy
Could this job serve as a job that could lead you to a government job later in your career?
Yes I believe by me working as Border Patrol agent this could land me a great job with the government like homeland security, or maybe even one of the presidents Bodyguards, there are many jobs I could land later in my career working as a Border Patrol Agent, I just listed two off hand but there are many more positions that I could qualify for.
Even though private sector doesn’t have the job that I am looking for I do plan to open up an apartment complex to house people that are living out on the streets I know it’s not going to be easy but we have started on it already and I know I can really help a lot of people and to me this is more important to me than being a Border Patrol Agent I know some people may say I am crazy, but I saw to many small children to be living like this and it really tore my heart up Saturday morning, so we went and talk to some officials and hopefully they can work with me to make this happen. I already have a building to where I can fix up and feed everyone, I just want something where they don’t have to sleep in the streets, I know everybody want be able to qualify because some of them need mental evaluation but the ones who can be help I am going to try and do my best.
