Pressure injuries are far too common in our advanced health care system of 2020. We know so much about them and still patients come out of ICU, surgeries, rehab hospitals, and regular med-surg care with them. In my last three years in wound care I am astounded by the amount of them we see. I always ask the history of them particularly what they were taught about them in the hospital. I am disappointed to report that all too often they really were not taught much or else what they were taught was not reinforced constantly or the severity was not impressed upon them as it should have been. They are so preventable.
