    Because you will not actually complete your study, you will be unable to design and evaluate a program to meet the needs of your target population. However, you will use your completed needs assessment to simulate the program evaluation process, using the steps below.
    Research a program in your community that currently provides the needs you identified in your needs assessment. Imagine you have been tasked with evaluating the program. Your audience is a group of people considering funding your research study.

The target population for this qualitative research is trauma survivors, particularly those
affected by intergenerational trauma. These individuals experienced depression themselves or
saw their family members use substances as a coping mechanism. This community urgently
needs active interventions to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma and its impact on
households. Currently, mental health counselors provide counseling and support for individuals
with intergenerational depression, and research studies such as the Holistic Empowerment Model
help address this need. Increased awareness, education, and training about intergenerational
depression are needed and serve these individuals and communities well. Similarly, interventions
require culturally sensitive and inclusive practices, and implementing these changes can promote
healing and resilience and break the cycle of depression.
Trauma Survivors Population’s Perceived Needs
The perceived needs of intergenerational trauma affecting survivors urgently need active
interventions to address the cycle of trauma and its impact on households. These people saw that
their family members were using objects as a tool for coping with trauma, so the
intergenerational cycle of trauma is embedded. This ongoing cycle poses significant challenges
to home development, affecting attachment strategies, worldview, and overall psychological
well-being (Lee et al., 2023). In addition, traumatized people urgently need an intervention to
break this cycle and provide practical support to help them cope with their depression and
substance abuse issues.
